Tetsuo Hara, the manga artist behind the art of Fist of the North Star, has drawn a new Special Art Rare (SAR): Crasher Wake’s Passion (マキシの熱血) in the Japanese expansion pack Aura Seeker (ハドウシーカー). The official Japanese Pokémon Card Game site announced the card with an interview with Hara. The information comes from the Japanese site, translated by us; the source doesn’t give a release date for Aura Seeker.

Who is Tetsuo Hara?

Year Career highlight (per the Japanese site)
1961 Born in Tokyo
1982 Debuts in Weekly Shōnen Jump with Tetsu no Don Quixote
1983 Starts Fist of the North Star with writer Buronson, his biggest hit
1990 Starts Hana no Keiji
2001 Starts Sōten no Ken in Weekly Comic Bunch
2010 Starts Ikusa no Ko in Monthly Comic Zenon

This is his second Pokémon card. He also drew Palafin ex for the Japanese high-class pack Terastal Festival ex.

The Crasher Wake’s Passion SAR: what Hara said

Crasher Wake is the Pastoria City Gym Leader and a pro wrestler. Hara says that after the challenge of balancing his style with Pokémon on Palafin ex, he enjoyed drawing Crasher Wake. Some highlights from the interview:

  • Toned-down muscles. He first planned an even more muscular Crasher Wake, then dialed it back to match what fans would expect.
  • A changed layout. His first idea looked up at Crasher Wake in the ring, with ring lights that might read as the Big Dipper. The face came out too small, so he switched to a leaning-forward, mid-air jump toward the viewer.
  • The afterimage hands. The trail of hands in the background wasn’t planned. It kept growing as he painted; he jokingly calls it a “thousand-hand afterimage fist”.
  • Water droplets. Because Crasher Wake uses Water-type Pokémon, he added water droplets, another idea that came mid-painting.
  • Analog painting. He paints by hand and layers color, and compared with the thick paint on Palafin ex, he used more highlights here for a cleaner look.

He even teased that putting the two cards side by side makes him want to draw a third.

See the original art in Tokyo

The original art and the card will be on display at the Pokémon Card Station at Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo, in Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, from November 30, 2026 to January 11, 2027.

PokeBeach reports more Aura Seeker reveals, including Floatzel ex, and PokemonRestocks shared a first look at the card.

What it means for collectors in the Philippines

Aura Seeker is a Japanese set. We haven’t seen an English or Philippine release announced for it, so for now this card is confirmed only for Japanese packs. If you plan a trip to Tokyo this holiday season, the Mega Tokyo exhibit is a rare chance to see a Hara original. Separately, Japanese booster packs are going up in price for new products released from May 2027.

For English-language cards available now, see our November releases guide, and find official shops in our store directory. For other Japan-only news, see the Mega Heatran ex promo pack.
